I am
Andrew Ikechukwu Ashiofu.
I am a pragmatic uniter who believes in standing up for what’s right, with empathy and accountability to my constituents. I believe in building relationships centered on the needs of the community.
My lived experiences make me uniquely qualified to represent the people of Seattle.
I have been formerly unhoused, and know intimately what it is like to lose your home. Like so many in District 3, I rely on public transit, and I know how important it is to expand safe and accessible multimodal transportation. I am HIV-positive, and I fight every day for dignified healthcare and health equity. I am an LGBTQ+ immigrant from Nigeria, and know how to advocate for the safety and for the sense of belonging that we all inherently deserve.
I march, and I also walk the walk. I am the chair of the Washington State Stonewall Democrats, co-chair of the Seattle LGBTQ Commission, and Board Member for People Of Color Against AIDS Network (POCAAN) and Gay City.
As one who worked as a front-line worker without union representation, I know what it is like to have to work through dangerous situations without decent worker protections.
It’s time to think globally and act locally.
I hope to earn your vote to serve you as District 3’s next City Councilmember.
